This is mostly what I don't like about companies trying to jump on the UGM bandwagon.
HEY EVERYONE, YOU ARE SO CREATIVE SO HERE IS A BUNCH OF STUFF WE WANT YOU TO USE AND PUT IT IN DIFFERENT ORDER, IF WE DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU DID, WE WONT USE IT!
I mean, come on. This is Twin Peaks. The show was about weirdness. It was creepy and dark and wonderful. Why tell us that here are all these clips and don't do x, y and z. Why not say 'create something that other TP fans will love.' or 'Create something Lynch-esque and if you want a few assets here you go.' The Twin Peaks audience is the exact group, who if motivated, could light up the shadowy corners of the internets and get some real traction. But not when it is the same stuff over and over. The judging (and buy the way, the winner gets a DVD box set and some D. Lynch coffee (WTF?), is based 25% on use of assets and 25% on production value. So if I am brilliant, but don't use your clips and make it on my cellphone, but is kick ass, i still lose out? Just getting frustrated as I still just don't think people get it and yet they jump in because it is a trend.
There are a few good clips, but the general lack of interest and the interesting makes this contest fall flat to me.
Here is one of the better ones:
